Timelapse Skies of Mauritius

Skies of Mauritius — this 2 year old timelapse video was shot in February 2014, in Port Louis, Mauritius. Definitely more ambitious project than The Oriental Pearl Tower, even though it covers only few hours in the morning and in the evening. I have not touched filmmaking since then, because I focused solely on photography. Nevertheless, I plan to do more timelapse and other videos in the future.

Although this video gives you an impression of a continuous day, from the morning till the evening, I cheated a little. I shot the afternoon and evening sequences first, then I woke up early to capture the sunrise and the morning parts. Since the only tool I used for shooting was a tripod, I deceived you a bit more with the movements — side to side and zooming in and out. That was done in postproduction using LRTimelapse software.

This time I paid a special attention to the sound. I chose the music before I started video editing so that it went better together. You can notice the video sequences were cut and timed to fit the song dynamics. I only adjusted the length of the song as it was a bit longer than the material I had available. Its name was The Final Battle — Epic Orchestral Music.

Next time I may show you my workflow and give you few tips regarding the software I use. Put your questions in the comments below, together with the details you would like to know, and I can focus on them.
